“I love the LORD because….”

Bible Devotion:

Psalm 116:1-2
“I love the LORD because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy.
Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!”

Quote from Life Application Study Bible:
God is so responsive that you can always reach him.
He bends down and listens to your voice.
This writer’s love for the Lord had grown because he had experienced answers to his prayers.

If you are discouraged, remember that God is near, listening carefully to every prayer
and answering each prayer in order to give you his best.

“Who will get the credit if God answers my prayer?”

Bible Devotion:

Psalm 115:1
“Not to us, O LORD, not to us,
but to your name goes all the glory
for your unfailing love and faithfulness”

Quote from Life Application Study Bible:
The psalmist asked that God’s name, not the nation’s, be glorified.
Too often we ask God to glorify his name with ours.

For example, we may pray for help to do a good job so that our work will be noticed.
Or we may ask that a presentation go well so we will get applause.
There is nothing wrong with looking good or impressing others;
the problem comes when we want to look good no matter what happens
to God’s reputation in the process.

Before you pray, ask yourself, “Who will get the credit if God answers my prayer?”

“If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

Bible Devotion:

James 4:15
Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

We should use our minds and set goals, but we must do so in humility,
recognizing that God alone controls our destiny. In the video testimony,
Christopher knew he could not do the things he wanted to do due to his disability
but when he put Jesus first in his life, things started to fall into places
that he never knew he could accomplish.

Being a hypocrite myself, i hope i could learn from Christopher
that i need to set my goals that will line up with God’s heart.
The phrase “What would Jesus do? – WWJD?” seems to reflect
perfectly in line with my goals setting tasks in Dean sermon
message today.

An answer to that may lie in the rephrased of the question, “What would Jesus have me do?”
I pray that all of us will echo the question “What would Jesus have me do?” when we
write down our goals for this year.

“With God’s help we will do mighty things…..”

Bible Devotion:

Psalm 108:13
“With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes.”

Quote from Life Application Study Bible:
Do our prayers end with requests for help to make it through stressful situations? David prayed not merely for rescue, but for victory. With God’s help we can claim more than mere survival-we can claim victory! Look for ways God can use your distress as an opportunity to show his mighty power.

“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good!”

Bible Devotion:

Psalm 107:1-2
“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever. Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out!
Tell others he has redeemed you from your enemies.”

Quote from Life Application Study Bible:
“Has the LORD redeemed you? Then speak out!”
God has done so much for us, and we have so much for which to thank him.
He wants us to tell everyone all that he has done.
These verses are not so much a mandate to witness as a declaration that when we live in God’s presence
we will not be able to keep this glorious experience to ourselves.
What has God done for you? Is there someone you can tell?

“Seek and you will find”

Bible Devotion:

Psalm 105:4-5
“Search for the LORD and for his strength;
continually seek him. Remember the wonders he has performed,
his miracles, and the rulings he has given,”

Quote from Life Application Study Bible:
The psalmist suggested a valuable way to find God-become familiar with the way
he has helped his people in the past. The Bible records the history of God’s people.
In searching its pages we will discover a loving God who is waiting for us to find him.
If God seems far away, persist in your search for him.
God rewards those who sincerely look for him.

Jesus promised, “Seek and you will find” (Matt. 7:7).

Lord, please show me guidance on the decisions i make in my life?

Bible Devotion:

Psalm 48:14
“For that is what God is like.
He is our God forever and ever,
and he will guide us until we die.”

Quote from Life Application Study Bible:
We often pray for God’s guidance as we struggle with decisions.
What we need is both guidance and a guide-a map that gives us landmarks
and directions as well as a constant companion who has an intimate knowledge
of the way and will make sure we interpret the map correctly.

The Bible will be such a map, and the Holy Spirit will be the constant companion and guide.
As you make your way through life, use both the map and your Guide.

Lord, what is truly important in my life?

Bible Devotion:

Psalm 39:4
“LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be.
Remind me that my days are numbered—
how fleeting my life is.”

Quote from Life Application Study Bible:
Life is short no matter how long we live. If there is something important we want to do,
we must not put it off for a better day. Ask yourself, “If I had only six months to live, what would I do?”
Tell someone that you love him or her? Deal with an undisciplined area in your life?
Tell someone about Jesus?
Because life is short, don’t neglect what is truly important.

mom dad, where’s the line to see Jesus?

Bible Devotion:
John 3:16,17
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him.”

“Santa give presents but Jesus Christ gave his life for me.”
The words of this song echo the real reason we should celebrate
Christmas.

I guess sometimes we forgot about it as human beings.
We turn on the radio, we hear Christmas song that talks about Santa.
We turn on the tv, we see advertisements about what is the latest presents we need to buy.
We go to the mall, we see Santa taking pictures with kids.
It seems like it’s all about the world definition of Christmas.
Sad but true.
Isn’t it Jesus Christ birthday?

Let’s us all remember the words of John 3:16,17.
God gave us the best present ever in the month of December…his son Jesus Christ.
As you take the time to pray, ask God to reveal his words to you today.

Do we trust God daily?

Bible Devotion:

Psalm 7:9
Quote from Life Application Study Bible:
"Nothing is hidden from God-this can be either terrifying or comforting.
Our thoughts are an open book to him. Because he knows even our motives,
we have no place to hide, no way to pretend we can get away with sin.
But that very knowledge also gives us great comfort.
We don't have to impress God or put up a false front.
Instead, we can trust God to help us work through our weaknesses in order
to serve him as he has planned. When we truly follow God, he rewards our effort."
