Hello,
I have not been attending Pathways for more than a couple months and am just beginning to meet and remember a few faces. I must say that the Aquasox game on August 18, 06 was a grand opportunity to meet and try to remember more of the church members. There were quit a few to be seen. Of course, lots of kids and I must say they were well behaved, even for being at a ballgame.
I was probably more annoying than any child there, if I was not bothering someone by talking, I was pointing a camera in their face in an attempt to make lasting memories for Pathways.
Sports is to some a very serious ordeal, but I guess if one was to measure sport skills and love of game in me, it would be very difficult to find as I much more appreciate the fellowship than the event on the playing field. Don’t get me wrong—I do enjoy watching baseball—but I much more enjoy bringing joy to our Lord.
Scripture, in the book of John, tells the reader that the fellowship God has with Jesus and Jesus has with believers, and fellowship between believers themselves, bring JOY to our precious Savior and His Father. Imagine . . . we can be active in bringing joy to God of Creation. And we should as He has brought so much joy to many of his believers. Marked as fruit of the spirit, Joy is right up there along with Love and Hope.
Scripture clearly states that God spoke many things into existence, but He chooses to do a couple by hand. One, He choose to form man (in His image) by His Hand and to breath His breath of Live into him as the living Spirit. God also gave mankind, by His own Finger, not once, but twice, His Character, The Ten Commandments. Oh, how God loves us, yet the sinner. So it be fitting we bring some joy to Him by fellowshipping every opportunity we can get!
God also walked in the Garden, not sending an angel or a messenger but He Himself walked with our first Father, Adam. But what really shows God’s love for you and I, yet sinners, is whom He sent in His place to free us from the evil umpire whose only desire is to strike us out! And by his rules you could never win.
But the Love of God in sending us Jesus (imagine how hard that must of been) spoke volumes as to His commitment to His creation. Could you send your son or daughter to die and suffer for a cause so few would accept? Or, in a place you youself could go, more so, just speak and have it done?
He also allows each and every one of His believers to be participants, not just receivers, in His plan of salvation. We have a part to do and that is witness to His Greatness and many blessings He has poured upon us, and if one has to, even use a few words.
So, what better way than getting together, fellowshipping, bringing Joy back to the author of joy? Reading scripture, talking and getting to know one another. You know if it all works out, and we make it to the finish (as Paul said) we will be together for a long, long time. But I hope to see you sooner than that. It would be a JOY!
