Current project - Dress A Girl Around the World.
Their main website is: http://dressagirlaroundtheworld.com/ and our state rep is Suzanne at suzannewithdressagirl@gmail.com, http://sewdelightful.blogspot.com/. This will run through February.
Supplies needed for Dress A Girl project are:
- pillow cases – any size, (not worn, not so thin that you can see your hand through the fabric) often 99 cents at thrift stores. Ones that are patterned or have ruffles turn out really cute!
- fabric (cotton or cotton/poly blend) – even fat quarters or remnants 14×36 will make a dress for a baby girl
- elastic – 1/2″ or 1/4″
- double fold bias tape – 1/2″ width
- lace, eyelet, ric rac for trim – everything washable
- handkerchiefs or napkins can be used for pockets
- gallon size ziplock bags can be used to make kits containing all the materials needed to make one dress.
- ribbon and beads to make simple necklaces
Next project – Mats for Uganda.
Begins in March and will be with http://matsforuganda.wordpress.com/. We will be making “plarn” from plastic bags and crocheting it into sleeping mats for pregnant women, women with infants and young children and orphans in Uganda. They are softer than sleeping on the ground, easily sanitized, portable, and bug and disease resistant. I would love to see the whole church get involved by saving us their plastic bags or even making us plarn to crochet from their plastic bags. Each 4′x6′ sleeping mat takes 200-300 plastic bags.
Needs:
- Plastic grocery bags
Grace and peace,
